Renu Ahmed Memorial Training Project

English Language Course

In memory of Begum Renu Ahmed, a veteran social worker and a member of the then Executive Committee of BMS in 2000, a project titled, “Women in new millennium” was initiated.Under the tutelage of Mrs. Ivy Rahman and Mrs. Sitara Ahsanullah, the then President and Joint Secretary, respectively, an English Language Training Course for the nurses of National Institute for Cardio- Vascular Diseases (NICVD) was conducted in 2001.

  • 195(one ninety five) nurses of this institute took the training
  • 62 nurses took English language training in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University
  • 267 students of different grades received the same training

In addition to this, Basic Computing Course was introduced in 2002 within the ambit of this project. Till 2022, Around 1200 participants have received basic computing training and were given certificates after completion of their training. Workshops were organized to build up self-confidence of the trainees and teach them how to write applications, prepare CVs, face interviews, etc.

BMS has started a new two-month course on Graphic Design (photo & illustration) and Basic English Language & Spoken English course.

BMS has plans to offer yet another course titled “Education and Service Management” to nurses to enable them to achieve professional nursing skills of international standard.
